Filter maintenance is not complicated, but timing matters. Here is the schedule we recommend after years of testing.
After Every Cycle
Rinse the filter cartridge or bag every time the robot finishes a run. Debris left sitting in the media dries, hardens, and chokes off suction for the next cycle. Every Few Weeks: Deep Clean
Rinsing removes bulk debris but not the oils, sunscreen, and fine silt that gradually clog the media. Every three to four weeks, soak the filters in a filter cleaner or diluted vinegar solution and rinse thoroughly. Step this up during heavy leaf fall, after a storm, or during an algae bloom, when filters load up much faster.
Replace Once or Twice a Season
Even well-maintained media wears out. Plan to replace standard cartridges or bags once or twice per season, and sooner if they stay discolored or lose shape after cleaning.
